Members of the Hinton Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department

 MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is a straightforward one:   We have come together to protect the citizens of our community and to save lives and property.   We take this responsibility very seriously.

Approximately 350 calls a year come in for us to handle.   Our chosen assignments take many forms above and beyond the obvious task of fighting fires.   Listed here are just a few of the additional duties we undertake:

•   Securing crime and accident scenes for the police and Sheriff
•   Directing traffic in emergencies
•   Administering basic victim care until the EMT's arrive
•   Aiding law enforcement in drug busts when requested
•   Assisting authorities in an array of security procedures
•   Conducting missing persons searches
•   Checking on the elderly and shut-ins after natural disasters
•   Assisting those in medical need - haul water, deliver oxygen, etc.
•   Cutting down fallen trees that are blocking access
•   Jumping car batteries
... and even rescuing cats out of trees!
            ... and much more!

NEW STATION 6 TRUCK

The Hinton VFD is very proud of this new truck which was purchased from money raised from our yearly fundraisers. No county taxpayer money was used. All the equipment on the truck comes from Pickens County with the exception of the mobile radio (because there are no mobile radio vendors in Pickens County).
